Silves
The old Roman city of Silves lies inland to the north from
Carvoeiro and Lagoa, approximately 20 minutes drive away.
It would be a shame to be so close and not take a visit
to this very quaint walled city, set on a hill at the foot
of the Monchique Mountains. As you approach Silves you
will be amazed at its majestic Roman castle and impressive
Cathedral. Inside the old city walls, steep cobbled streets
contain a multitude of different shops, cafes, tea houses
and restaurants and it has the most fabulous atmosphere. Well worth
a visit.
