Burgau was once considered a sleepy fishing village far from the bustling Algarve scene', however with the new motorway it is only an hour and ten minutes from the Faro airport.

There are dozens of beaches nearby. The town itself has a sandy beach and a very good beach bar/restaurant and numerous restaurants, bars, coffee shops, a wine shop and a lovely gift shop.

Within half hour drive from Burgau on the southern and western coast of the Algarve there are over 3 dozen beaches of different characters, some with hidden coves, some long stretches of sandy beach, some surfers paradises, some with unusual rock formations.

New medium rise 4 and 5 story developments between Luz Bay and Burgau have brought many possibilities for holiday rentals in this area.

Within 15 minutes drive of the north of the motorway and the coast you can still find traditional villages to explore within the Monchique Mountains .
