Every summer Silves has a late night market 7 June, 5 July & 9 August, inside the old market building, when villagers local farmers sell, fresh figs, apricots, fried 'doughnuts', straw hats, potted herbs, hanging dried herbs, succulents, regional fire-water and plant based liqueurs and jams, hot fire-water, the sweetest just picked oranges in the Algarve. All at very good prices.

There are also talks by very knowledgeable growers on how to prepare your soil and plant your garden.
On a hot day, the best time to arrive in Silves is after six. The late night market goes till midnight, and the castle is open until 9:30.
