Not in the Algarve, but definitely worth checking out online: Anne Camozzi, a silk artist in Canada who gets an honorary recommendation from the Freemaps:

Anne Camozzi has been a friend of mine for the last 40 years. Wow, thats a long lasting relationship . We even still have holidays together, not every year but often enough to keep well in touch. I met Anne through track and field as she was on our relay team and one of southern Ontario's finest 100 meter dashers. She was very athletic and even was sponsored by the municipal county to continue sports in the summer months. We struck up an immediate friendship. She was one year behind me at school but that made no difference. We spent summers camping at Bon Echo Park or at Darlington Park on sunny weekends when our parents thought we were old enough. Anne was a fine arts student, and as I remember did some wonderful etching, paintings and scupltures.
She now lives in Nova Scotia (Antigonish) with her husband. I have been there to visit and they live right on a bay with tall pines surrounding their eco home that they had built. Her husband makes hiking trails for the government. When I visited, we went kayaking off the bay and saw eagles soaring and abundant wildlife.
After knowing Anne for so many years and how strong and athletic she is, I was shocked to hear that she had a very disabilitating disease. They had daignosed her with one thing after another, and she just became more and more frustrated when she found that she could no longer do so many of the activities that she loved. She also had to resign as a Vice President of Saint Francis Xavier University as it was taking its toll on her.
Finally about two years ago she was in Victoria , B.C. getting away from a heavy winter in Nova Scotia and she thought she would try to see a doctor in B.C. That Doctor finally daignosed her with ****** and now the treatment is helping her feel better and she knows what her triggers are. She is still quite handicapped but has returned to her art work, which I feel is wondeful. I think she forgot all about her creative side. It was not until one of her physiotherapists suggested she follow her artwork again. Well need I say anymore, it is all here for you to see. It is spiritual, flowing and inspiring. I adore the vibrant colours and the silk that Anne uses. It has transparent light to it alone. So have a look for yourself at her website and absorb her delightful work.
